Cape Town - Five beached whales that washed ashore at Long Beach in Kommetjie have been successfully rescued, the Cape City disaster Risk management said.
The incident occurred on Sunday morning, when the beached pod of 20 whales was discovered by members of the community. It was unclear how long the marine mammals had been there.

Nik Wallenda will attempt his highest ever wire walk on June 23, the Discovery Channel, which will broadcast the event live, said Monday.
The 34-year-old's stunt will take him 1,500 feet (457 meters) above the Little Colorado River -- that's higher up than the top of New York's Empire State Building, Discovery said in a statement.
Upington - SANParks have announced that visitors will be able to enter the Augrabies Falls near Upington for free on Friday, 15 March to see the majestic falls lit up.
