The number of rhinos poached in South Africa since the beginning of the year has increased to 249, according to the Department of Environmental Affairs (DEA).
The Kruger National Park remains the hardest hit, with the number of rhinos poached since last week increasing from 167 to 180. A total of 21 were poached in North West, 18 in KwaZulu Natal, 17 in Limpopo and 13 in Mpumalanga.

"There were no reports whatsoever," said Colonel Vishnu Naidoo.
The only potential risks were well-managed, he said.
At several fan parks across the country there were more supporters outside than inside.
"We advised that the gates be opened for the fans to go. Had we left the gates closed, then there was the challenge that the fences would collapse."
SAFARI & Adventure Co. has announced that Rocktail Bay Lodge, located in KZN’s Maputaland Coastal Forest Reserve, will be closed from April 30, with plans to increase the size of Rocktail Beach Camp under way. By July 1, a further five rooms will have been added. These will be suites that can also be used as family rooms.The camp has a dining room, bar, lounge with a wrap-around veranda and a pool. Last night we were excited to have a large Leopard toad in the garden around our offices. I grabbed my camera as i have not been priveleged to get this close to a leopard toad before.
